How to Obtain an IP PIN

  • Identity Protection PIN (IP PIN)
    • An Identity Protection PIN is assigned to taxpayers to help prevent fraudulent use of their Social Security Number. It is important to note than a new IP PIN is generated for each filing season. As such, the IP PIN from a prior tax year will not work the following tax year.
